This week the kittens open their eyes. PEEK - I see you.
The following are the vaccination protocol we give our kittens. Most primary
care vets do not understand/use a cattery vaccination protocol, but are well
prepared to care for your pampered kitten with the standard vaccination. Once
you receive your kitten, you will not need a 'distemper' until one year. Please
check with your vet a head of time to make sure they will accept this protocol,
which is supported by the American Assoc. of Feline Practitioners. If you do not
have a vet, please start interviewing for one now. Cattery Vaccination Protocol
Only IntraNasal (Feline UltraNasal FVRC) MLV (Felocell3) Reference: "The
intranasal vaccine only stimulates what they call local immunity. That is, the
IN vaccine stimulates production of antibodies in the eyes and nose -- which is
where viruses first enter -- but it does not stimulate antibody production in
the blood or other body tissues." Dr. Cristy Bird of Sarsenston Cattery. This is
why the injections are needed in the 9th and 12th week.
