Siamese ~ Thai ~ Wichien-Maat
Siamese Cats and Kittens for sale to help preserve the Old-Style Siamese (OSS/Thai) look using real authentic Siamese lines, which are now being shown as Thai in The International Cat Association (TICA).
Bangkok to the President's wife, Mrs. Lucy Webb Hayes, and are still bred and seen in Thailand today.
However, the first breeding American Siamese were brought over from England
in 1895. Old-Style Siamese cats are also called Thai Siamese, Thaikatzen,
Applehead Siamese, Traditional Siamese, or Classic Siamese. Please note,
that some cats who are registered as "Traditional, and Classic " Siamese
are cats that look Siamese but have unknown ancestry, while the term Apple
or Apple-Head, refers to the shape the Old-Style Siamese heads. The terms
traditional and classic Siamese are often referred as the shape or build
of an OSS/Thai. Old-Style Siamese/Thai are authentic with long pedigrees
recognized by major cat associations, and maintain the 20th century breed
standard, which was originally written in 1914 by America's Siamese Cat
Society and is maintained in Thailand as the Wichien-maat, and was among
the documents carefully studied and composed by the present-day
PREOSSIA/Thai. A breed club.
The OSS/Thai are relatives
to the Show-Style Siamese. They share old bloodlines, from which two distinct
versions of this elegant cat formed, Show-Style and Old-Style. My name is
Amy, and I, along with my family, raise and preserve these beautiful authentic
Old-Style Siamese and will begin showing them as Thai in TICA. What does
rare mean? Finally, we are a small no-cage cattery, our name 'Evinea' is
Latin for 'Out of the Vineyards' and all of our OSS/Thai cats are named
after wines or vineyards.
Our Goal
The Evinea Cattery focuses primarily on preserving and improving the health of Siamese blo
odlines and
show them as Thia cats in Tica. Most of our cats maintain the look of the
first Siamese imported from Siam between 1880 and 1935, and the looks that
is currently seen in Thailand today. We carefully research to find lines
that are pure, and work towards reducing historical in/line-breeding. Furthermore,
we also look to import new lines from around the world, which includes Thailand.
To ensure vigor and health, all of our cats have traceable lineages, and
are registered with Major Cat Registries (CFA/TICA/ACFA/CFF). We are a conservative cattery, that ONLY
sells pure Siamese Thai, who are healthy, happy and are destined to become
life-long family pets. As a conservative cattery, we work in conjunction
with an American cat club called
PREOSSIA/Thai and a United
Kingdom cat club called the
Old-Style Siamese Club. PREOSSIA/Thai and The Old-Style Siamese Club
outlines exceptional Code of Ethics and
Standards that
the Evinea Cattery advocates and honorably endorses. Our cats are shown
in The International Cat Association (TICA)
and other European clubs that support the look of the Old Style called Thai.Policies and Practices
All of our Siamese Thai are vaccinated and tested negative for FIV, FeLV, Ring Worm, and Giardia.
We feed
Evo®, and again, each Siamese Thai has its own food and water dish,
which is sanitized in a dish washer daily. Money
A respectable, clean and healthy cattery takes money to manage. Breeding purebred Siamese Thai has numerous considerations for financial obligations. This is not a profitable venture. A
great deal of
money is spent on old line searches and pedigrees, purchase of new Siamese
Thai, expensive premium foods, cat litter, vet bills, exhibiting at shows,
research and numerous additional supplies. There are also advertising costs,
cattery registration and inspection fees, and individual kitten/cat registration
costs. In short, this is a hobby of love, commitment, and preservation.
My Siamese Thai kittens have all their vaccinations before they leave to
their new home, and they also receive a health check by a licensed veterinarian
before they go, along with being spayed/neutered, and have the option to
be microchipped. My breeding cats are tested regularly, along with various
health screening tests. Breeders, like myself also face unexpected vet bills
such as caesarean sections, pyometras, etc.
